ANSWERS TO COMMON QUESTIONS

WHO CAN DRIVE A BCH HIRE VEHICLE?
We set a minimum and maximum age limit for those renting our vehicles. You and any authorised driver must be at least 21 and not over 75 years of age and have no less than 12 months driving experience.
HOW MUCH INSURANCE EXCESS DO HAVE TO PAY IF I DAMAGE THE VEHICLE?
The standard insurance excess applies of $3,500 for all cliams. If you are under 21 years old then an additional $5,000. Drivers aged 21-15 years old have an additional $2,000. And any drivers with less than 2 years driving experience add an additional $2,000 to the standard excess.
DOES IT COST EXTRA FOR ADDITIONAL DRIVERS?
No, though all drivers need to meet the above requirements.
DO YOU HAVE AIRPORT PICK-UP AND DROP OFF?
Yes. Flying in is no problem. We can meet you at the Barcaldine or any of the regional airports with a vehicle ready to go.
WHERE IS YOUR HOME AIRPORT?
Barcaldine (BCI) is our home airport.
ARE THERE ANY CHARGES FOR PICK-UP AND DROP OFF AT YOUR HOME AIRPORT?
No. 
WHAT IF WE FLY INTO ANOTHER REGIONAL AIRPORT, DO YOU OFFER ONE-WAY TRANSFERS OR ONE-WAY HIRES?
Yes we can have a vehicle ready for you in any of the regions airports. Please note there is a one way charge for us to drop a vehicle off to you and/or to bring the vehicle back to Barcaldine. For example for us to drop a vehicle to Longreach for you is $220 and Blackall is $275. If you were to return the car to the Longreach or Blackall, then this incurs the one-way fee also. Please contact us to discuss your plans.
CAN WE PICK A VEHICLE UP/DROP OFF IN ANOTHER LOCATION AND ARE THERE ONE WAY TRANSFER FEES?
Yes we can have a vehicle ready for you in any of the regions towns. Please note there is a one way charge for us to drop a vehicle off to you and/or to bring the vehicle back to Barcaldine. For example for us to drop-off/ for you to pick a vehicle at our regional towns it will be an extra one-way fee: Longreach $220 or Blackall $275. Please contact us to discuss your plans.
ARE INFANT AND CHILD CAR SEATS AVAILABLE AND ARE THEY AN ADDITIONAL COST?
Sorry we do not supply infant and child seats. However, each vehicle is fitted with anchor points for your infant/child seat.
CAN I DRIVE THE VEHICLES ON UNSEALED OR GRAVEL ROADS?
Yes. However, as per our Terms and Conditions the vehicle cannot be driven on a road that is not properly formed, constructed and maintained; where the state of the unsealed road would cause damage to the vehicle; or or off road such as in a paddock. Please see terms and conditions for full details.
DO WE HAVE TO PAY A BOND?
Yes, you will be asked to pay a fully refundable $500 security bond along with the Rental Charges before you collect your hire car. Please see the Terms and Conditions for full details.
CAN WE PURCHASE AN EXCESS REDUCTION OPTION?
We do not offer Excess Reduction options.
DO WE PAY FOR THE KILOMETRES DRIVEN?
A daily limit of 100 kilometres applies. For each kilometre you exceed that limit you will incur an additional fee of thirty cents (30c) per kilometre. For example, a 4 day hire comes with 400km free, any additional kilometres above 400 will be charged at 30c per additional kilometre.
ARE THE VEHICLES FULL OF FUEL WHEN WE PICK THEM UP?
Yes. If you return the vehicle with less than a full tank of fuel a refuelling charge of $55 (including GST) plus the cost of the fuel, will apply.
WHAT TYPE OF FUEL DO YOUR VEHICLES TAKE?
All our vehicles require unleaded petrol.
DO YOUR VEHICLES COME WITH 24 HOUR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE?
Yes. 24 hour roadside assistance by RACQ is included in the rental charges please contact RACQ on 131 905 if you require assistance during the hire period. Please see terms and conditions for more details.
WHAT IS YOUR REFUND POLICY?
In the event of an accident or breakdown we will, wherever possible, replace the vehicle as soon as possible and extend your rental period for an equivalent time lost.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
If your booking is cancelled within 24 hours prior to the start of the rental or you fail to notify us of your intended cancellation prior to the start of the rental and fail to pick up the vehicle, you will be charged the rental charges for the rental period as booked unless we are able to rent the vehicle to another renter for an equivalent term and rate.
WHAT ARE YOUR OFFICE HOURS?
Our office hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and Saturday 9am to 12 pm.
WHAT IF WE WANT TO CONTACT YOU OUTSIDE OF OFFICE HOURS?
If you need to contact us outside of office hours with a new enquiry please leave a detailed message of when you need a car and for how long and we will get back to you as soon as we can during office hours.
CAN WE TAKE YOUR VEHICLES INTERSTATE?
Yes however we need to have given our written permission prior to the start of the rental and it is noted on the rental agreement. Please contact us to discuss your plans.
ARE THERE ANY ADDITIONAL CHARGES TO TAKE A VEHICLE INTERSTATE?
No.
CAN WE TOW WITH YOUR VEHICLES
Yes, however we need to have given our written permission prior to the start of the rental and it is noted on the rental agreement and you must meet all conditions outlined in our Terms and Conditions. Our towing vehicles are fitted with electric brakes, heavy duty suspension and airbags. Please contact us to discuss your plans.
ARE THERE ADDITIONAL CHARGES IF WE WANT TO TOW?
Yes. Due to the increased wear and tear placed on our vehicles by towing an additional daily charge will be incurred of $55 per day.
DO YOU OFFER LONG TERM HIRE OPTIONS & RATES?
Yes, we offer long term hire options and rates for 21 days or more, please give us a call to discuss your plans.
HOW MANY DAYS WILL WE NEED TO SEE EVERYTHING THE BARCALDINE REGION HAS TO OFFER?
A minimum of 3 days. We do definitely recommend 3-5 days though, so you are not rushing your trip and can see the region.
WHAT IF I AM A SMOKER?
You are not permitted to smoke in the vehicles. If cigarette smoke is detected in the vehicle, an additional cleaning fee of $175 will be charged.
CAN I BRING MY PET?
Pets are not permitted in the vehicles without prior permission. Additional cleaning fees may be charged.
DO YOU HAVE PAYMENT PLANS?
Yes. For hires longer than 14 days, BCH does offer payment plans, that is, you can choose to pay off the hire as you go, rather than all at the end of the hire when you retun the car. BCH must give written permission prior to the start of the rental. It is noted on the rental agreement and you must meet all conditions outlined in our terms & conditions. 100% of the hire fee must be paid on return of the vehicle.
